our
strategy.
1
faith.
As a Christian based organization, we believe it is our faith that provides us with a firm foundation for what's to come. We believe that everyone is created with a distinct purpose and that purpose will only be revealed through one's own personal relationship with the Lord. Kids in foster care may or may not know the Lord. No matter what though, we will be ready if and when they choose to start their faith walk. We can't imagine the adversity they've had to overcome, and faith doesn't guarantee that adversity won't happen again. Faith, does however, provide us with a hope and assurance that even in the storms of adversity, the Lord is in the details.
2
education.
Our founders are firm believers in that education is the gateway to success, but we also recognize education can come in a variety of paths. Currently, we offer different scholarships. These will focus on 4-year programs, 2-year programs, trades, and GED. In addition to scholarships, we also offer tutoring services, assistance for testing, and college application fees.
3
guidance.
Navigating life on its own is hard enough. We can't imagine trying to navigate it without the expertise and wisdom of those that have already walked those paths, yet many kids in foster care that have aged out find themselves on their own. It is our hope to serve as pillars of guidance for them, whenever they need it.
4
community.
The learning doesn't just stop after you've completed your educational pursuits. It's what comes next, adulthood. With our community network and resources, our goal here is to assist in job placement, resume building, coaching, skills, and networking to start these kids off on the best possible path of their choosing.
Community is especially important for everybody but for Fostering Futures of North Carolina, it's critical. Without the support and engagement from our community businesses, leaders, schools, churches, and other organizations, our initiatives such as job placement, tutoring, professional development, faith development, and educational initiatives simply aren't possible.
5
life skills.
Most kids aging out of foster care don't share the same childhood experiences that would result in them learning valuable life skills and are skills we often take for granted. Skills such as laundry, cooking, taxes, financial literacy, car maintenance, and home maintenance might all be foreign to them, and it's our goal to teach them.
6
giving back.
It is one of our fundamental beliefs and a core biblical principle to give back. Yes, we're very much aware that we're a non-profit ourselves but that doesn't mean we can't bless other organizations. Therefore, every fiscal quarter, it is our goal to donate 10% of our annual general donations, fundraisers, merch sales, and referral income to other organizations within our local communities. There are many variables that communities and kids in foster care face that can be overwhelming for any one organization or individual to overcome. It is our belief that in sharing what's been blessed to us, with others, we can further support other organizations that are providing support for needs such as hunger, homelessness, and rehabilitation services. All of these concerns are issues that kids in foster care, especially those aging out, potentially face. Therefore, by giving to other organizations addressing these areas of concern, it's our way of furthering our reach in supporting kids aging out of foster care.
